Creative Sundays With Jo Ann: Mandala Love
Today’s card is incredibly simple to make using the mandala stamp in the Here For You Stamp Set. I started by stamping the image on a piece of Tim Holtz Watercolor Cardstock with Versamark Ink. The image was heat embossed using Simon Says Stamp Ultra Fine Gold Embossing Powder. Because of the textured paper, I used a Misti stamping tool. It allowed me to ink the image several times before adding the powder. An anti static powder tool is useful to avoid stray powder from sticking.
I squished various Distress Inks onto my Tonic Glass Mat.
Antique Linen
Brushed Corduroy
Cracked Pistachio
Peacock Feathers
Lucky Clover
Tumbled Glass
Salty Ocean
I added one drop of Ink On 3 Pixie Dust to each color, along with a quick spritz of water. I have had this product for awhile and wanted to give it a try. I painted each section using a Winsor & Newton Series 7 #0 paintbrush.
The coloring was mindless…almost therapeutic. And look at the shine and sparkle on this card! It’s hard to see in the final photos but I think that I was able to capture the essence here.
I fussy cut the image using my Cutter Bee Scissors. I chose a page from the Spring Fling 6 X 6 paper pack for the background.
I cut a strip of mirrored cardstock from Altenew. There are many different types on the market but I just happened to have this highly reflective paper in my stash. It was adhered with a Hero Arts Glue Pen.
I cut a series of circles using the Hero Arts Infinity Circle Die Set. The smallest was from a scrap of the mirrored paper. I couldn’t find a piece of colored cardstock that matched so I cut a piece from white cardstock and colored it with a Copic BG 10 marker.
The sentiment is also from the Here For You Stamp Set. It was heat embossed using Versamark Ink and the SSS Gold powder.
The circles were glued together and Scotch Foam Tape was added to the back. Gold crystals, from the Rainbow Crystal Gem Stickers, were added for some additional bling.
The patterned paper was glued to a #110 Neenah folded card base using a Kokuyo Tape Runner. The Mandala was glued to the front panel with the Hero Arts Glue.
As always, thank you for sharing a bit of your time with me today on another creative journey.
Joyfully,
Jo Ann
