Creative Sundays with Jo Ann: The Monday Blahs

The holidays are over, our company has left, the decorations are safely put away until next year, and the long hard winter has settled in…even here in North Texas. We are retired but most of you will be headed back to work and to school tomorrow. You have my condolences!

After the hectic schedule and extra work of the holidays I wanted to make a quick clean and simple card that expressed how most of us are feeling as we settle back into our routines. This one layer card fits the bill. I haven’t had an opportunity to play with the new Blah Humbunny stamp set yet and I wanted to use it before I head into spring cards. Although, I suspect that it could easily be adapted to the spring and Easter season.

I stamped the bunny onto Tim Holtz watercolor paper using Ranger’s Archival Black ink and watercolored with Distress Inks.

The finished bunny was cut out using the coordinating Dies from the set. Two extra pieces were cut and glued together to add a little bit of dimension to the focal piece. It is faster and easier than cutting small pieces of dimensional tape. I have another new love…the Tim Holtz Sizzix Sidekick. It sits on my desk and saves me from constantly jumping up to die cut small pieces. It brings a whole new level of lazy to my creating! LOL

Keeping with the clean and simple format I cut a small piece of Kraft cardstock and stamped a greeting from the Blah Blah Blah stamp set. It was hard to choose a sentiment as they all had me chuckling.

The card was looking a little too plain so I pulled out my scoring board and teflon bone folder and added five score lines on each side, at 1/8” increments.

I added a thin strip of scrap black cardstock to the top and bottom and glued it to a card base. After glueing the bunny to the front he didn’t look grounded so I added some cast shadows to the bottom and right sides using my Copic W1, W2, and W3 markers. I love how cute the bunny is. Bonus…not only is this card quick and easy, it can be sent through the mail with regular postage.
