When I was thinking about what to do this week I knew that I wanted to feature the Fox from the new release. Thinking about foxes led me to fox hunts, which led to England, and then Scotland. From there, I went straight to plaids. I googled plaids on my computer and I was off and running. And now you know the craziness that rattles around in my brain…all the time!!! It may look like I am doing nothing at times, but I am thinking. At least that’s what I tell my hubby! LOL

I stamped the fox from the Feelin’ Foxy stamp set onto light Neenah cardstock, using Simon Says Stamp’s Inktense Black Ink because it is Copic friendly. My initial thought was to draw a small plaid pattern onto the fox with my copic markers. And then I came to my senses!!! I went back to google, downloaded the plaid image, and printed it onto copy paper! I stamped the fox onto the plaid and cut it out. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to make the fur or the body plaid, so I cut out both. I really do like my Cutter Bee Scissor for fussy cutting.
My mind started racing again and I thought, “Why not draw a monocle? While I’m at it I might as well give him a top hat, draw lapels for a jacket, and a collar and buttons for a shirt.” I didn’t have to draw the bow tie, I found it in the Penny The Platypus stamp set. I used a Copic Multiliner pen to draw over my pencil lines.
I started thinking about the background and decided to draw a log as well. I forgot to take a pic until I had already started coloring it. Oops!
I colored all the pieces with Copic markers and fussy cut them. There is a coordinating Feelin’ Foxy Die set, but I don’t have it yet. I used a retractable knife to cut between the monocle chain and the body.
I didn’t want to spend a lot of time building a background so I just did a simple “smoosh” technique. I colored three shades of Tombow Dual Brush markers onto some scrap packaging, sprayed it lightly with water, and smooshed it onto some Tim Holtz Watercolor cardstock.
To assemble the card I cut more of the plaid pattern, slightly smaller than the #110 Neenah Classic Crest cardstock base, and adhered it with a Kokuyo Dot Liner tape runner. Because the watercolor paper was slightly warped I used Scor-Tape to secure it to the plaid. I glued the log on as well and added the sentiment from the Ridiculously Happy stamp set. I thought it would be whimsical to add the small leaf, from the Penny The Platypus set, to the log. I paper pieced the plaid, the bow tie, and the top hat onto the Fox body using Ranger Multi Matte Medium. I flipped it over and added Scotch Foam Tape to the back. Yes…I tend to be an overachiever when I tape! LOL
For the finishing touches I added a few small freckles with a Sepia .3 Copic Multiliner, and went back over all the lines with a Black Copic Multiliner. Ranger’s Glossy Accents was added to the monocle and the buttons.
This card is fairly flat and would mail easily, especially if you do not add the dimensional tape behind the fox.
