Creative Sundays With Jo Ann: Honeycombs & Hexagons
Hi friends…it’s another Creative Sunday. Before I get started I wanted to share some fun things that are about to happen over at the hive. I started off today’s project with the Hexagon Solid Stack Die Set. I arranged the four smallest dies on #110 Neenah cardstock and ran it through my die cutting machine. I ran the next largest die through on a separate piece of cardstock. Save the four largest inside pieces.
I ran another piece of cardstock through the machine using the Hexagon Cover Plate Top Die. This die can be bought separately or in a Set. I used a sponge dauber to add multiple colors of Distress Inks to the honeycomb frame. I ran it through again using the Hexagon Cover Plate Stipple Die. This layer doesn’t cut, it just leaves a stippled outline. It can also be purchased separately or in the Set. I glued the frame to the underside of the card front using Lawn Fawn’s Glue Pen. I really love this glue!
Next, I took the four largest cut out pieces and colored them with an ink blending tool, using Scattered Straw, Fossilized Amber, and Wild Honey Distress Inks.
I marked the tops with a T so that I could align them properly on the back. They were glued down with the Lawn Fawn Glue Pen.
To finish the front, I stamped a few flowers, leaves, stems, and a bee using the Busy Bee Stamp Set, onto Distress Watercolor Cardstock, using Ranger Archival Black Ink. They were watercolored using Distress Inks and cut out with the Coordinating Die Set and my trusty Sizzix Sidekick.
Some pieces were added with the Glue Pen and some with Scotch Foam Tape, for added dimension. The sentiment is from the Acorn Sisters Stamp Set. The front panel was adhered to the card base using more Scotch Foam Tape.
