Creative Sundays with Jo Ann: Loads of Hugs & Kisses
I have a passion for rusty old farm trucks filled with trees, pumpkins, gifts, hearts…well, you get the picture. I tend to favor the old green and red ones. Something about them waxes nostalgic with me. I love to paint them…rust spots included!

I am still working on Valentine’s Day as it is quickly approaching. Honey Bee Stamps has the perfect little truck set. It offers a variety of occasions to fill the truck bed. Using Ranger’s Black Archival ink, I stamped the truck, wood slats, barrels, and hearts, from the Little Pickup stamp set, onto the smooth side of Tim Holtz’s watercolor paper. I watercolored everything using Distress Inks. Cracked Pistachio is the perfect color for a vintage green truck.
After everything had dried I cut the pieces out with the Coordinating Die set. I am still loving the new Sizzix Sidekick for cutting small dies. It is so convenient. I keep it set up on the desk next to me.
I decided to fussy cut the barrels apart using my Ek Success Cutter Bee Scissors. I also used a retractable knife to cut between the slats so that you could see through them. I like to go around the outside edges of the cut pieces with a black marker. If you use a Copic marker it won’t run when using wet adhesive to glue the small pieces together.
I wanted a colored border to match my truck colors so I made my own. I started by rubbing the Cracked Pistachio Distress Ink pad directly onto the cardstock. I lightly brushed some Vintage Photo Distress Ink on top for a vintage look. I cut the sentiment from the Sending You Sentiments Die set out of the middle of the paper. It will be covered and you won’t see it. I stacked and glued the sentiment pieces together with a Zig 2-Way Glue pen. It’s perfect for those small, thin pieces.
I stamped the rest of the sentiment, using the Sending You Sentiments stamp set, with Ranger’s Archival Potting Soil ink. I really struggled with how to finish off this card. I tried a variety of things. I pushed the pieces around for awhile. Adding the Coordinating Die cut shadow under the sentiment was the extra touch that helped pull it all together. I added dimension to the truck using Scotch Foam Tape. As you can see, I tend to “over tape.” LOL
This card would work well for both the women and the men in your life. You could even personalize the conversation hearts in the truck.
Thanks for joining me today on another creative journey.
Joyfully, Jo Ann
