Creative Sundays With Jo Ann: Love My Tribe
Everybody wants to belong. It is in our nature. Many of us have formed wonderful friendships within our creative community…our tribes! Actually, these sentiments work beautifully for family members, church groups, teammates, sororities, fraternities…well, you get the picture.

Today’s card really is quick and easy. I stamped the image, from the My Tribe Stamp Set, using Ranger’s Black Archival Ink and Tim Holtz Watercolor Paper. I die cut it on the diagonal, using the second smallest die in the Double Stitched Squares Die Set.
I added two different heart images to the panel. I found it easier to put the panel back into the cutout opening and then use my MISTI.
I save all the plastic packaging from my stamp and die sets. I use it to test my stamping placement. It really is useful in checking to see if you like the image or the sentiment that you have chosen. I lay it over the paper, place the stamp, add ink, and check to see if it is straight and I like where I have placed it. It saves me from a lot of misstamping. (Is that a word or did I make it up?) 🙂 I also use it when I am too lazy to clean the stamp between uses. You can see how I use it in the bottom right pic. I also use the saved packaging for the watercolor “smooshing” technique.
I watercolored the images using Distress Inks and a #2 DaVinci Cosmotop Spin Brush. The colors used throughout this card are Picked Raspberry, Peacock Feathers, Fired Brick, Wild Honey, Shaded Lilac, and Twisted Citron.
I cut three pieces of #80 Neenah Cardstock to 3” x 3” squares, die cut them using the second smallest die, from the Double Stitched Square Die Set, and glued them together. It gave me two additional inside pieces which I glued behind the colored image. I used a Lawn Fawn Glue Pen. The reason that I cut three frames is because I wanted to put dimensional foam tape behind the image and this made all the pieces level across the back.
I stamped another image, from the My Tribe Stamp Set set, using the same black ink and watercolor paper. I colored them using the leftover colors on my palette. They were die cut, using the coordinating My Tribe Die Set, and the Sizzix Sidekick.
I cut two more pieces of #80 cardstock to 5” x 3.75” and 5.25” x 4”. I colored the edges of the larger piece with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink. I taped the smaller panel to the larger panel with a tape runner. The image was taped to the frame pieces and Scotch Foam Tape was added to the back. I stamped the sentiment using the My Tribe Stamp Set.
To dress up the plain white envelope, I stamped a sentiment from the Angel Policy Stamp Set. I also added one of the small die cut pieces.
The image panel was glued to the front and it was all taped to a #110 Neenah Cardstock card base using a Kokuyo Tape Runner. I added another small die cut piece to the bottom right of the inside of the card.
Thanks for joining me today on this creative journey.
Joyfully, Jo Ann
