Creative Sundays With Jo Ann: Wish Upon A Star
I used to love staring up at the night sky as a child! I would make a wish upon the first star that I saw at night. Gazing at the moon, hunting for planets, and searching for the constellations is still a favorite pastime. And who can look up at the heavens now and not utter the infamous words…”In a Galaxy, far, far away!” LOL

The adorable bunny, in the stamp set Heaven Sent, is my favorite from the latest release. I don’t know why I have waited so long to finally ink it up! Also, I am late to the galaxy painting party, but I wanted to give that a go as well.
To show the back of the bunny, looking out the window as it gazed up at the night sky, I needed to add ink only to the outline of the stamp. I contemplated putting little bits of tape over all the inside lines but knew that I would probably have to stamp it more than once and didn’t want to keep adding the bits of tape each time. I stamped it onto some Inkadinkado Masking Paper and cut out the inside. It fit perfectly inside the stamp. Just be sure to remove the inside mask after you ink it and BEFORE you stamp. You’ll only make that mistake once…okay, maybe twice! I drew a drop-bottom to the back of it’s footed PJ’s. I also stamped the toy bunny. A Q-Tip was used to remove the ink from it’s eyes.
I used Tim Holtz Watercolor Cardstock and Ranger Black Archival Ink. A MISTI, or other stamping platform, is helpful for restamping on the textured watercolor paper.
I stamped a few more images, and created a stack of bedtime books, using traditional masking techniques. Everything was watercolored with Distress Inks.
I die cut the images using the coordinating Heaven Sent Dies. The books were fussy cut. The easily removed Purple Tape, and the Sizzix Sidekick, never leave my desk. They are a staple for me!
As I looked at the bunny I realized that it’s feet were facing the wrong way! It was going to take an exorcism…or a pair of EK Success Scissors and a Pigma Micron 03 pen…to fix it. I just cut those feet off and glued them back on. Bunny surgery!!!
I cut a bedroom window frame using two dies, from the Double Stitched Square Die Set, and Neenah #80 Cardstock. I cut a piece of watercolor paper the same size as the largest square and randomly added bright colored splotches of Distress Ink. After drying it throughly I added Black Soot Distress Ink on top, leaving some of the bright colors to peek through. Random dots of white were added with a Signo Uniball Pen to create a starry background.
The window frame was colored using a finger dauber and Vintage Photo ink. I cut a background panel using the same ink and a Blending Tool. The moon was glued inside the frame with a Lawn Fawn Glue Tube. Scotch Foam Tape was added to the bunny and the frame for added dimension.
I stamped a sentiment, from the Heaven Sent Stamp Set, on the inside using Vintage Photo Ink.
Everything was assembled, using a Kokuyo Tape Runner, onto a #110 Neenah Cardstock card base. The plaid wallpaper is from the Lawn Fawn 6 X 6 Perfectly Plaid Collection.
As always, thank you for joining me on another Creative Journey.
Joyfully, Jo Ann
